使用Zoom Breakout Room的三個小技巧 Three Techniques to make your Zoom Breakout Room More Effective

Zoom大家用得多，Breakout Room亦試過了吧！但如何用得有效果，還需要小小技巧。以下三個貼士可以幫到你。

1. 預先決定誰開始發言

有沒有試過二分鐘的Breakout Room討論時間，參加者竟然花了超過一分鐘討論誰先開始發言，拖拖拉拉，你推我讓？

解決方法：主持人先說明發言順序：

生日月份最小的先開始

頭髮最短的先開始

英文姓氏字母排列順序最大的先開始

等等

2. 預先寫下討論題目

有沒有試過進入了Breakout Room，卻忘記了要討論什麼？結果討論了大半天，才知道討論錯了重點。

解決方法：主持人預先把討論題目打進Chat Box裏，才分派參加者到Breakout Room。參加者在Breakout Room是可以看到進BOR前的Chat history。可是，如果主持人在參加者進入了BOR才發討論題目在Chat Box，參加者是無法看見的。

3. 善用Breakout Room倒數和Broadcast message功能

有沒有試過在Breakout Room談得興高采烈，BOR卻突然中止，所有人被送回大房？或者二人一組的討論理應平分每人一分鐘，但其中一個咪霸卻佔了1’50’’的 air time？

解決方法：

啟動Breakout Room的倒數功能，讓參加者能實時看到剩餘時間。另外，主持人可以在適當的時候，發一個Broadcast message到所有BOR，提醒大家：是時候換人分享了。

Three Techniques to make your Zoom Breakout Room More Effective

You must have used Zoom, and most likely experienced its Breakout Room function. But successful breakout room experience takes a little bit of a technique. Here’s three tips to make your next BOR more effective.

1. Pre-determine who to speaks first

The host sent everyone to breakout rooms for a 2-min discussion, but participants spent more than 50% of the time deciding the speaking order. Sounds familiar?

Solution: The host pre-determines who speaks first before the BOR begins. For example,

Whose month of birth is earliest speaks first;

Follow the alphabetical order of your last names;

Who joined the company the latest speaks first (for intact teams)

2. Have your discussion topic written up

Participants were sent to Breakout Rooms but they either forgot what to discuss or misunderstood the topic, which resulted in a less than quality discussion.

Solution: The host sends the discussion topic in the Chat Box before sending people to Breakout Room. Chat history remains after people enter BOR. However, once people enter BOR they won’t see any new Chat message the host enters from the Main room.

3. Use the timer and broadcast functions

You and your team were in the middle of a great discussion in the Breakout room but all of a sudden, the discussion ended abruptly and everyone was sent back to the Main room. Sounds familiar? How about someone dominated the airtime for 1’50’’ in a 2 min BOR discussion?

Solution: Activate the timer function of Breakout room so that participants can see how much time is remaining. In addition, the host can use the “Broadcast” function to send a message to all breakout rooms as a reminder “It’s time to switch to someone else”.
