Teaching New Skills OR Engaging and Motivating Staffs

Research has shown that school could boost student achievement more by improving teachers' motivation and working conditions than by increasing teachers' knowledge and skills. In other words, it's not how much the teachers know that matters, it's how engaged they are with students.

What does it tell us in the corporate world? Should we keep teaching staffs new skills hoping to increase their productivity? Or we should pay more attention to staff engagement and their intrinsic motivation?
