Motivation Triangle

When we set goals and pursue some kind of achievement, we often focus on what to do (activities and behaviors) and how to do (strategy and plans), but neglect why we do what we do (vision and mission) and what roles we play in the process. The science of motivation (including the famous Golden Circle by Simon Sinek and Motivation 3.0 by Dan Pink) has indicated that sustainable and fundamental change is only possible when we go top down on the triangle.


當我們設定和追逐目標時,往往聚焦於目標的大小、高低(What)。當目標設定完畢,大家的注意力便轉到策略、計劃和行動(How)。這種方法看似合理,但卻缺少了更重要一塊,Why。現代激勵理論指出,要達到深層次的、持續的行為改變,當事人必須對某件事的重要性、對自身的角色和使命有所理解,才會對該事情完全投入,從內在自我激勵。
