Learning Matrix

“Creativity is a team sport.”

Can’t recall where I read this statement from, but it is true that inspiration and creativity often come from interaction with another great mind. I had the privilege to exchange and brainstorm with another super trainer, Sam Hui, yesterday and today. We talked about our positioning as a training consultant and where do we go post-COVID. Then we came up with this matrix. The X axis represents a tool or a methodology, which can be specific or broadly defined. The Y axis is its application, which again, can be specifically targeted or broadly applicable. Now we have a 2X2 matrix and 4 quadrants. We discussed what should fit into each quadrant. The picture above is my version, which is definitely not set in stone and ever evolving. Sam may have a slightly different version of his own. One can always argue what should fit in where – there’s probably no correct answer, only perception.

The matrix serves to provide clarity of the nature of different tool and programs, and it helps Sam and I to think further on what we are going to position ourselves. I love this mental exercise.
